Hardware Reset commands

If you're experiencing problems with your Squeezebox, Transporter or Controller it may need to be reset.

Reset to Factory Defaults

This technique will reset the player to it's factory settings, wiping any network passwords etc you may have programmed it with. Use with care!

Squeezebox 1

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "Add" on the remote
  3. Reconnect the power

Squeezebox 2, Squeezebox 3/Squeezebox Classic

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "Add" on the remote
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "Add" button when you see "Factory reset..." on the screen

Squeezebox Boom

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "+" on the remote or front panel
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "+" button when you see "Factory reset..." on the screen

Squeezebox Receiver

  1. Hold the LED button for six seconds or until it quickly blinks red
  2. Release and wait until it starts blinking more slowly - it is now ready for setup via the Controller

Squeezebox Controller

  1. Power it off (press the home key and hold for a second or two)
  2. Power it on while holding down the "+" key

Transporter

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "Add" on the remote
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "Add" button when you see "Factory reset..." on the screen

Squeezebox Radio

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "+" on the remote or front panel
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "+" button when you see "Factory reset..." on the screen

Reset Audio Hardware (aka Xilinx Reset)

These steps will often fix problems with garbled sound, or no sound at all during playback.

Squeezebox 1

There is no method to reset the Xilinx chip in a Squeezebox 1.

Squeezebox 2, Squeezebox 3/Squeezebox Classic

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "1" on the remote
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "1" button when you see "Programming xilinx" on the screen

Squeezebox Boom

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold the "1" preset button on the front panel
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "1" button when you see "Programming xilinx" on the screen

Squeezebox Receiver

Perform a Factory Reset. On this device, both resets are performed at the same time.

  1. Hold the LED button for six seconds or until it quickly blinks red
  2. Release and wait until it starts blinking more slowly - it is now ready for setup via the Controller

Transporter

  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Press and hold "1" on the remote
  3. Reconnect the power
  4. Release the "1" button when you see "Programming xilinx" on the screen
