Must I Upgrade to 7.4?

No, but it is highly recommended. Please upgrade as soon as it is available for your platform.

What If I Don't Upgrade to 7.4?

We will only support pre-7.4 users who have migrated to SqueezeCenter 7.3.3. Please don't call us up for help if you have issues with MySqueezebox.com and versions before 7.3.3.

What Happens If I Run 7.3.3?

If you have your Squeezeboxes connected only to your computer running SqueezeCenter 7.3.3, then you will not see any 7.4 changes and new features listed in the Release Notes. You will, however, now administer your SqueezeNetwork account by going to http://www.mysqueezebox.com instead.

Software Update Hassle

If you switch your Music Source between SqueezeCenter and SqueezeNetwork, then your Squeeezeboxes and Controller will be updating software every time you switch:

  1. Music Source switches to SqueezeNetwork
    • Controller updates to latest 7.4 firmware
    • Boom, Receiver update to latest 7.4 firmware
  2. Music Source switches to SqueezeCenter 7.3.3
    • Controller downgrade to latest 7.3.3 firmware
    • Boom, Receiver downgrade to latest 7.3.3 firmware

If you turn off your SqueezeCenter computer nightly and use your Squeezeboxes while it's off, then your Squeezeboxes will update their software if you choose SqueezeNetwork as your Music Source. When you turn on the SqueezeCenter computer the next day, they will downgrade their software again.

How Do I Avoid the Hassle?

You can avoid this hassle by:

  1. Upgrading to SqueezeCenter 7.4 or
  2. Never connecting your Squeezeboxes to MySqueezebox.com
