Overview

Now Playing

On Fab4: "Now Playing" will not be in the home menu per se, but rather will be accessible at any time via the "now playing" button on the remote control and/or the top-right button of the fab4 touchscreen, labeled with musical notes. Thus, Now Playing on the fab4 is more of a "state" that can be accessed rather than a home menu option.

Sleep/Power Off

On Fab4: The top left area of the home menu will contain a "power" button that puts the fab4 into "off" mode (the same functionality as the power on/off button on the remote). It is likely that tapping the button will produce a prompt ("are you sure?" in case it is touched accidentally), while a "press-and-hold" of the button will put the device immediately into "off" mode.

Home Menu Structure

The top-level menu options will consist of three types of items:

  • persistent navigation - these are navigation options that are always available to users, namely "My Music," "App Manager," "Favorites," "Messages and Settings"
  • user-added squeezebox apps (none shown here) - new apps that users install will be automatically added to the home menu.
  • POTENTIALLY: pre-installed apps. At this time there is no plan to place any pre-installed apps in the home menu, however there has been some discussion about placing a "tutorial" app there.

Internet Radio

Description: Replaces the current "Internet Radio" menu. Will be restricted to the RadioTime portion of the current menu structure (radioio, SIRIUS, and other services currently accessible will be redesigned as standalone "apps.")

My Music

Description: "My Music" replaces the current "Music Library" home menu. It contains any music that is available on the LAN (i.e., served via SqueezeCenter from a PC or NAS drive), from the on-board Fab4 memory/filesystem, or via Fab4’s SD card reader or USB connector (USB flash drive or HDD).
