Clean Install - Windows Vista

Logitech releases periodic updates that include new features, bug fixes, and other changes that improve SqueezeCenter. Normally you can install any new release over your current release with no trouble. However, if you run into trouble you may need to uninstall your current version and install the new version fresh.

Reasons for Performing a Clean Install of SqueezeCenter

  • SqueezeCenter will not start successfully
  • Firmware update fails on Squeezebox
  • SqueezeCenter installation fails to complete
  • Problems scanning your music library
  • Corruption of music database (MySQL)
  • SqueezeCenter not displaying information properly
  • Unable to choose computer running SqueezeCenter as a music source

Steps for Windows Vista

To perform a clean install follow the steps below:

  1. If SqueezeCenter is running, please stop it by right-clicking on the Squeezebox icon at bottom-right by your clock, then select "Stop SqueezeCenter".
  2. Open Control Panel and click Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program
  3. Scroll down to SqueezeCenter and click Uninstall (if you see Slimserver, uninstall this one as well).
    • You may see a message asking you if you want to "delete all preferences and log files". If you do see this message, please click "Yes". After the uninstall process is complete, move on to step 7.
    • If you do not see this message, continue to step 4 after the uninstall process is complete
  4. Restart your computer
  5. Delete the SqueezeCenter folder (and SlimServer folder if it is there) in C:\Program Files
    1. Click on Start
    2. Click on My Computer
    3. Click on C:\
    4. Click on the Program Files folder
    5. Locate the SqueezeCenter folder and delete it (and SlimServer folder if it is there)
  6. Delete the SqueezeCenter data folder from C:\ProgramData
    1. Click on Start
    2. Click on My Computer
    3. In the Address bar at the top of the page, type the path above
    4. In the ProgramData folder, locate and delete the SqueezeCenter folder (and SlimServer folder if it is there)
  7. Download SqueezeCenter from:
http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download

After the download is completed, reinstall SqueezeCenter and see if your issue still exists

Note: The instructions above are based on a default installation of SqueezeCenter. If you have made any changes to the default installation, make sure you substitute them in the above instructions with their corresponding locations
